Happy Moby Dick Day!

On this date in 1851, Herman Melville's masterpiece was published. And it really is a masterpiece, one of those books that people are "supposed to have read" but often have not.

Too bad. It's a marvel, full of deep wisdom, terror and humor. And despite its fusty rep, it's a ton of fun to read--truly an entertaining book. If you've been putting it off, go for it! You won't regret it.
