Stating the obvious on climate change

Scientist and public intellectual Vaclav Smil says what everybody with sense already knows: Crash programs to stifle climate change are doomed to failure, as a matter of basic economics. The numbers just don't add up.
It's not just a matter of profit and loss. It's that the basic infrastructure of the entire world can't be rebuilt in a decade or two. It's literally impossible to do it that fast. So what shall we do?
